Buttons and books embellish the bed
Where yesteryear fell teddies and toys.
Then daylight, dawn and draw of tea,
I tear myself from the collage.
Effortlessly, the seams suture
And the canvas is complete in my absence.
I sigh. Content.
Kaleidoscope limbs tangle and twist,
Seeking out a new resting place.
The challenge is harder these days,
As the seasons pass and everything grows.
Away from me they unfurl-
A little more
A little more
Reaching for space to flourish,
I hope this will always be so.
Legs languish over the canvas edge-
Glue drops waiting to fall.
The midnight hour came and went-
we didn’t notice,
busy in buttons and books-
Bountiful business.
Comfortable in our chaos
Weaving our fabric together.
