Rains raged down that morning
This year the heavens would quell flames
This is not the year
To remember, remember,
Parliament decimating men.
Men pushed with nothing to lose
with a spark  in their veins,
Courage and camaraderie,
a tiny hope remained.

Almost.  Almost.
Belief in a better way.

This year.
Bonfires saturated
The flames will struggle to rise.
As we all struggle to rise.
They did not.
They rose, as an eagle soars a mount,
and yet their humanity razed them down.
Love outwrote hate.
And sealed their fate.

Gunshots fired worked
Men fell as empty shells.
Others torn limb by limb
Grostesque fountain of flesh.
And Faukes.  Three months tortured.
But his spark retained:
Jumped.  His soul unbound,
Body found ground.
The noose would not wrench his life.
Earth caught.  Broken. Free.
Remember, Remember.
They  did not take integrity.

Usually found with a cup of tea, a pet or a book, I am most content with life's humble gifts. A catch up with friends and home baked cakes is my idea of bliss. My heart beats where my family are close but my soul will always be in that place between sunset and sunrise. 💚
