Compass Keep me Company

Everybody ready?
Cases shed tears.
2 hours? 3 hours? More?
Airway? Railway? Motorway?
North. East. South. West.
Compass keep me company
All which way but here.

But it’s Christmas soon
And there’s always the phone
And a stamp’s cheap
And technology today
And…we’ll believe anything-
Mustn’t we?

Do you remember that night?
– the awful night
– the best night
– the strangest night
So many
So many memories

Never forget that day
– which day?
All of them
Promise.
Cross your heart and hope to…
No. Some things can’t die.

We’ve been together
Through goodness and not
Shared jokes
Shared tears
Shared smiles
Shared thoughts, hopes, dreams, fears
Alone soon
Everyone alone
But inside where it matters
None of us should ever be alone

Remember the jokes
Remember the tears
Remember the smiles
And we won’t lose touch
Ever.

Usually found with a cup of tea, a pet or a book, I am most content with life's humble gifts. A catch up with friends and home baked cakes is my idea of bliss. My heart beats where my family are close but my soul will always be in that place between sunset and sunrise. 💚
