When cherry blossom billowed
Staggering bursts of life
Sun-basked streets evoked hope
Of a time when we’ll be free.
A quiet proud gentleman
Step by shaky solid step
Walked along that path
For what he believed.
No fanfare press salutes him,
No statues cast in bronze,
No titles thrust upon his chest
Because his heart is worth far more.
His smile is his donation,
Inspires us to do the same
To walk alongside each fellow man
Proud, true and sovereign.
We did not know your name,
But Ron Green, you’re immortal now
An unsung hero of this war we’ll win
Hope empowers us all.
Take my words and lay them
Next to that image caught so well.
Thank you. Your courage will prevail.
We will not let you down.
