Little Grey Orange

The grey orange was long forgotten
Probably within seconds of making it real.
It was all about the misty whale then
Or the house with the windows
Or matching the shapes.I wonder if it was the start of it all
The grey orange,
I wonder if I questionned it?
Did I obligingly comply
Because That’s. What. You. Do.
Or did I colour within the lines
-Not to conform,
But because, even then
I could imagine impossibilities.
Was it a test? Or a gift?
The grey orange
She offered me.
Along with the misty whale
Swimming in paper infinity.

It wasn’t what I was looking for
In the loft that day.
But these things usually come when needed.
Little grey orange.
I’d like to think
She was keeping our imaginations free
Giving us a gift.

Don’t just accept what you’re told is true
One day this grey orange
Will make sense to you.

Usually found with a cup of tea, a pet or a book, I am most content with life's humble gifts. A catch up with friends and home baked cakes is my idea of bliss. My heart beats where my family are close but my soul will always be in that place between sunset and sunrise. 💚
