Simply in the Garden

There’s a place in the garden where nettles grow free
In the shadow of the fence, under the pear tree.
Their roots paddle in the pond
Their leaves dance in the breeze-
In that place in the garden where nettles grow free.

There’s a place in the garden where buttercups thrive
On the undisturbed bank, where not much survives.
Their flowers glisten in the sunlight
Their pollen hails the bees-
In the place in the garden where buttercups thrive.

There’s a place in the garden where daisies abound
In the uncut lawn, in hundreds they are found.
Their innocent delight beckons every child
A gift in the grass allowed to run wild-
In the place in the garden where daisies abound.

Make a space in your life for the wild things to grow,
Break down the barriers let earth’s energy flow.
You’ll be gifted in abundance for the space you share
Infinite silent wonder every day everywhere.

Usually found with a cup of tea, a pet or a book, I am most content with life's humble gifts. A catch up with friends and home baked cakes is my idea of bliss. My heart beats where my family are close but my soul will always be in that place between sunset and sunrise. 💚
