Spark

Isn’t it true that the essence is more powerful than …
Well, that the blurry photo
of the elusive fox is somehow
more valuable than if it had been pin sharp…

And the spine-tingly sparkles of electric blue
evading the camera at sea
are infinitely more captivating
than they would have been
if they were thunderous, roaring waves of cobalt

The essence evokes promise
unharnessed, unfulfilled and undestroyed…
like a magic triggered but untamed

A cloud obscured eclipse,
shadowy but seen – alluring, captivating
and yet not blinding.

What is it when life gifts these moments of essence
which present as disappointment first –
Not bright enough,
clear enough,
Often enough… for long enough

and yet like a calloused conker,
which could be cast aside,
if pulled apart,
that moment considered
as imperfect, incomplete or too fleeting,
becomes the most incredible gift
Unrivalled by…

Made even more so
by its very essence and untarnished promise of its
Spark.

Usually found with a cup of tea, a pet or a book, I am most content with life's humble gifts. A catch up with friends and home baked cakes is my idea of bliss. My heart beats where my family are close but my soul will always be in that place between sunset and sunrise. 💚
